The Kargil war was lost and not won by India. Reasons below.
India lost more troops:
“The Kargil war, as it came to be known, lasted for nearly three months, killed more than 500 Indian and nearly 400 Pakistani soldiers, and ended with India successfully pushing back Pakistani fighters to the other side of the LoC.”
Even hindu websites admit this truth that Pakistan captured more land and gained out of this war unlike India:
“Pakistani army not only succeeded in their aim to show the world that LOC isn't the final border but also managed to capture multiple points including the most important Point 5353, a strategically important peak in the Dras sector, which is still under pakistani control.”
Most of Indian armies equipment is outdates and obsolete:
"Sixty-eight percent of the army’s equipment is so old that it is officially considered vintage.”
